NG WEN QING

RESEARCHER

A decade of being immersed in the world of ecological research within Southeast Asia has exposed Wen Qing to findings that are the stuff of Planet Earth gold. But often, they lay buried under a mountain of technical jargon, eventually forgotten. In order to distill a story down to its simple core elements and achieve engaging narrative, Wen Qing realizes it will require taking a critical look at the telling of stories.

Making the switch from fieldwork to film, Wen Qing continues to put her training as a researcher to use while assuming the role of Project Manager in Nuvista Media, specifically in environment-centric assignments.

"Tell a good story and the whole world will listen."

Acik is the team's very own MacGyver—often handy in creating realistic filming setups that breathe life into a documentary’s production.

"Half of the storytelling ability is sound."

AMIRA AFENDI

PRODUCTION MANAGER

Amira is often curious about the complexities of the human behavior and believes there are always two sides to a story. She holds firm that documentary-filmmaking is more than presenting facts; it is projecting emotions and unheard voices through the screen in hopes of touching hearts and inspiring actions.

Amira has been with the team for more than four years. Her interests are diverse; varying from fighting for women rights to saving tigers. She is a Production Manager and Assistant Producer by day, and a diligent cat-sitter by night.

“Sometimes it is the people who no one imagines of anything who do the things that no one can imagine.”

NAVEENDRAN JAYABALAN

EDITOR & CAMERAMAN

Some choose to write, sing or dance to tell stories, but there are a few who choose to tell it through documentaries and Naveen is one of them.

Following his passion for documentary filmmaking and storytelling, Naveen joined Nuvista Media after earning his Bachelor’s degree in Media, Culture, and Communication.

This company has not only taught him the process of making documentaries but also how to be a better storyteller. His ultimate goal is to tell real stories that resonate and touch people from all walks of life.

“We don't talk through words, we talk through stories.”

ANIS MAJIDA

ASSISTANT PRODUCER

Anis Majida is an assistant producer at Nuvista Media. She graduated from HELP University where she discovered and was captivated by the art of documentary film-making.

Anis loves how wholesome the process is as it allows her to connect with her surroundings in ways never before. She aspires to make films that will allow her audience to experience them the way she did.

“Film-making is an appreciation on how vast, yet small, our world is, and how intertwined yet individualistic all of us are. It is my hope to translate all these onto the screen and do it justice.”
